Jamie Lynn Entrekin, 43, who worked for Surgical Specialists of Ocala, was arrested Tuesday and charged with organized fraud.

A former doctor’s office manager is suspected of taking more than $280,000 from the business to pay her credit card bills.

Jamie Lynn Entrekin, 43, who worked for Surgical Specialists of Ocala, was arrested Tuesday and charged with organized fraud, according to the Ocala Police Department. Officials said she no longer has the job.

Dr. Ravi Chandra told an OPD officer that a fraud department employee with the Capital One Bank told him that, starting in December 2012, 60 checks were made payable to its card services from Surgical Specialists, the doctor’s business. They went to a personal Capital One account in Entrekin’s name.

The total amount of the checks was $281,815.43, according to an OPD report.

Chandra obtained copies of six of the checks. He told the police officer that the signature on them was not his. He also said he did not authorize Entrekin to make the transactions.

OPD Detective Scott Rowe spoke with a Capital One investigator. Rowe learned that Entrekin had two credit cards – on accounts opened in 2005 and 2009 – that received payments from the doctor’s business. That last payment was on Aug. 13.

Rowe took Entrekin to OPD for an interview. She told him she had been Chandra’s office manager since 2006 and that she accidentally used a business check to pay her personal credit card last month, according to the report.

Upon realizing the mistake, Entrekin said, she stopped the payment.

Informed of other records showing payments, Entrekin told the detective that, shortly after she was employed, the doctor gave her permission to use the business checks to pay her credit card bills, according to OPD. She said she never signed the checks.

Chandra again denied giving her permission.

Entrekin was arrested and taken to the Marion County Jail. She was booked in at 3:30 p.m. and released on $10,000 bond at 10:48 p.m., according to jail records.

Entrekin could not immediately be reached for comment.
